The Function and Mission of the Reserve Battalions of the Ukrainian Volunteer Corps

The Reserve Battalion (RBat) is a supporting structure within the Ukrainian Volunteer Corps. It has a number of important functions in the context of the military and political program of the Right Sector. The major supporting missions of the Reserve Battalions are:
- Ensuring the territorial integrity and independence of the state in a specific administrative region.
- Developing a field-specific action plan in case of armed hostilities, the terrorist attacks or subversion act.
- Mobilizing volunteers into the UVC combat units.
- Rotating combat soldiers on the front line by the efforts of the RBat on a consistent and regular basis.
- Training combat soldiers.
- Guarding strategic facilities and frontiers, controlling major lines of communication on a co-ordinated basis with the government defense and law enforcement agencies of the region.
- Working with refugees and displaced people in order to detect subverters, spies and agents of clandestine networks.
- Arranging military training camps for the entire personnel, exercises in military instruction for civilians, involving young people into military and patriotic events in educational establishments, disseminating military propaganda among the population in order to have people militarized and prepared to counteract the military aggression of Russia; assisting in the formation of local self-defense units in case of a military aggression.
- Carrying out administration and logistics in order to ensure the acquisition and training of the battalion, cooperating with volunteers through the Corp Volunteer Service division.
- The RBat combat soldiers are armed with legal guns.
- Assisting the families of the deceased UVC soldiers and the wounded comrades.
- Assisting the military units of the Corps in all spheres.
The battalion commander comes under command of the Commander of the Corps, being the direct superior for the entire personnel of the battalion. The commander of the battalion composes by his order the battalion headquarters with respective divisions - mobilization, acquisition and logistics, communication and propaganda, military training, reconnaissance, special units (security related issues), communication and ideology (with the chaplain service as a part thereof). The headquarters chief comes under command of the battalion commander, being his deputy.
